Travel Teams Begin NIHL Regular Season Play November 12, 2017

QCHA Ice Eagles travel teams have completed the ‘seeding’ portion of their Northern Illinois Hockey League inaugural season.  Either this past weekend or in the coming weeks all three Ice Eagles full travel teams begin their regular season schedule.

Overall, the experience in seeding play was a positive experience for QCHA players and parents.  The Ice Eagles familiarized themselves with the level of play in the NIHL and other components of travel and play in the league.  Seeding games are played to give NIHL officials a chance to determine the competitive level of play for particular teams prior to the beginning of the regular season.  All teams are then assigned to a level and tier of play for the regular season where games should be fairly balanced in competitive play.  Once this happens, competitive balance leads to enhanced skill development in all phases of the game and generally for the duration of each contest and the season.

In this inaugural season, all QCHA teams have been assigned to the Silver level where teams will have a chance to grow and be successful each puck drop.

The Bantam travel team got off to a strong start this past weekend with two shutout victories.  On Saturday, November 11 in Addison the Ice Eagles defeated the Chicago Bruins2 by a score of 3-0.  This was followed up on Sunday with a 5-0 victory over Skokie Flyers2 played in Buffalo Grove.  They resume play this Friday night in Orland Park against the Vikings3.

The PeeWee Travel team has a pair of MWAHA friendlies at the Rivers Edge this weekend before starting NIHL play on December 2nd in Orland Park.  On Saturday, November 18 the PeeWee Ice Eagles hosts Dubuque at 12:30 and 1:45.  On Sunday, Cedar Rapids comes to town for games at 12:00 and 1:15.

The Ice Eagles Squirt travel team opens NIHL play with a busy weekend starting on Saturday, November 18 in Rolling Meadows versus the Northwest Chargers2.  The weekend also includes games against the Winnetka Warriors2, Wilmette Braves2 and Chicago Hawks4.

Should scheduling allow, fellow Ice Eagles players and families are welcomed and encouraged to come support your QCHA teammates within the association.
