Beginning Hockey Programs

One Goal (OG): $80

6 sessions.  Players may only register for One Goal one time before moving on to Learn to Play Hockey.  This program is for skaters that have very little or no skating experience.  The focus for this group is learning to skate forward, learning to fall and get back up off the ice, etc.  Please come early enough to have your player dressed and ready to step on the ice at 5:45 pm.

Learn to Play Hockey (LTP):  $80

6 sessions.  This program is for players that have already gone through the One Goal program or have previous skating experience.  This group will go through stations set up on the ice to work on different skating and hockey skills.  Your player may participate in LTP as many times as necessary for the player to feel comfortable on the ice.  Please have your player dressed and ready to step on the ice at 5:45pm.

All players must wear complete set of hockey equipment (chest protector, breezers, elbow pads, shin pads, helmet, skates and gloves) to be on the ice for our program.  The equipment fitting, if you choose this option, can be set up by contacting the One Goal Director at Onegoal@quadcityhockey.com.  This is a one time only optional equipment rental:  $150 refundable deposit for players age 9 and under;  $250 for ages 10 and older.  If at the end of the 6 sessions, you feel your player does not want to continue with hockey, you will return all of the equipment (you may keep the jersey and the stick) and the QCHA will return the $150/$250.  If your player wants to continue with hockey and keep the equipment, the QCHA will keep the $150/$250.

Try Hockey for Free:  FREE!!

The QCHA hosts a hockey event where kids ages 4-17 can come out on the ice for an hour and try the game of hockey for FREE!!  The next date will be April 20th at 11:00am-12:30pm. Registration will be online.

What to bring: We encourage those who have access to equipment to please bring it. If you do not have any equipment, you will need to bring:

  • A loose-fitting pair of sweatpants or snow pants
  • A pair of gloves (they don’t need to be hockey gloves- mittens are fine)
  • A helmet (a bike helmet works great!)
  • A Smile

What will be provided:

Skates are provided by the River's Edge, if you need to borrow them, and a limited amount of equipment available for you to borrow from the QCHA.

*Parents are not allowed on the ice unless they have fulfilled all of the USA Hockey coaching requirements.
