The Quad City Blues are gearing up for an exciting showdown against the Cedar Rapids Roughriders as they battle for the coveted Heroes Cup in the 13th Annual Blues Benefit Hockey Games. But this isn't just any ordinary game - it's a chance to give to the kids who need us the most.

This year's proceeds will be donated to University of Iowa’s Stead Family Children’s Hospital’s departments of Pediatric Cardiology and Neurology, https://uigoldrush.org/blues.

Neurology and cardiology hold a special significance for our Blues families as two of our senior players are personally affected:

• One senior player had a life-threatening congenital heart condition requiring open heart surgery when he was only 1 month old.

• Another of our senior players has been battling epilepsy since being diagnosed in the 2nd grade.

As a special tribute, the Blues will take to the ice wearing custom red and purple jerseys and hockey socks to pay tribute to the kids fighting congenital cardiac abnormalities (red) and pediatric epilepsy (purple). Two of these jerseys will be up for auction, along with t-shirt sales, bake sales, raffle items, and a silent auction of goods and services. And the best part? The event is free to attend, so everyone can come out, enjoy some hockey and show their support for our team and our kids fighting hardest.

The Quad City Blues Hockey Club, part of the Quad City Hockey Association (QCHA), is a not-for-profit 501(c)(3) organization formed to promote the sport of hockey for boys and girls of all ages in the Iowa and Illinois Quad City area.
