Seeking Applications for the Director of Hockey Skill Development

The Quad City Hockey Association is currently seeking to fill the role of Director of Hockey Skill Development (DHSD).  The person fulfilling this role will have the responsibility to be instrumental in the advancement of our QCHA hockey players from One Goal through Bantam.  Details of the position are listed below.  If you have questions or are interested in applying for this position please submit your resume to Todd Mahoney at mahoneydawson@msn.com.

Position Description

  • Annual Hired Position that Reports to the QCHA Board of Directors
  • Charged with the responsibility to design, manage and supervise the hockey skill development of the QCHA membership, specifically all players from One Goal, Learn to Play, Mini-Mite through Bantam
  • This charge includes providing direction, goals and structure for the on-ice development of QCHA players at each level of the program.
  • Evaluate, counsel and modify QCHA on-ice programming as is required.
  • Work in consultation with and provide direction to the Director House and suggestions to the Director Travel
  • Work in cooperation with QCHA Coaching Director to educate and improve QCHA coaching.  Observe, evaluate and provide input to QCHA Coaching Director and all QCHA hockey coaches as needed.
  • Attend QCHA Board monthly meetings to submit a verbal update, answer questions as well as submit written plans and reports as requested
  • Advise QCHA Board on direction, changes, and improvements recommended to enhance the development of QCHA skaters and teams

Qualifications

  • Minimum requirement is a secondary/high school degree
  • College degree highly desired
  • Completion of required USA Hockey coaching credentials
  • Experience competing or coaching at high level junior hockey (USHL or TIER 1 Canada/US or Major Junior Canada), or experience competing or coaching at collegiate level (NCAA Division 1 or 3) is highly preferred

 

Compensation

  • A yearly base stipend of $2500 with the opportunity to earn an additional $1000 with camp/clinic revenue per year.

 

Position Limitations

  • From September through the end of March the Director is limited to exclusively working with QCHA members and restricted from working with other associations or skaters
  • Cannot concurrently serve as the head coach of any hockey team from September through March (including QCHA); Can serve as a QCHA assistant coach
