As members of USA Hockey, all coaches (ages 18+) for QCHA must complete the following requirements BEFORE stepping on the ice with any of our players. https://www.usahockey.com/coachingcertification
*All prices are subject to change by USA Hockey on April 1, 2024
This last requirement needs to be completed by 12/31 of each season.
Some fees paid by the coaches are subject to reimbursement after all requirements are complete and verified by the Registrar. In the right column is the reimbursement document that needs to be filled out and sent to the Registrar along with your receipts to registrar@quadcityhockey.com. Cost of mileage/food/hotel will not be reimbursed. Form and receipts are due by Jan 1st of current season.
Effective in the 2022-23 season, Level 4 coaching certifications are valid for three (3) seasons, and Level 5 coaching certifications are valid for four (4) seasons, each as indicated by an expiration date. Before the expiration of their level, coaches must accumulate 5 credit hours of continuing education by attending USA Hockey continuing education offerings. The USA Hockey clinic listings will indicate all continuing education offerings and the credit value of each. The Coaching Education Program retains the responsibility for defining continuing education credit values, including clinic or online course work.

Stay connected with all of the QCHA coaching news by downloading the Sports Engine app. Every coach will be added to a coaching list (separate from any team). This can be used for information being sent out by the Coaching Director or by fellow coaches needing help at practices. Anything coaching related can be posted here for all the QCHA coaches to see.
Coaches are needed throughout the season. Not only for practices and games, but we have a beginning hockey program 4 times per year, we have a Try Hockey for Free event 3 times per year, we want to hold more goalie clinics, etc. If you have the extra time to help out on the ice, click on the link below to see current volunteer opportunities outside of practices and games. The QCHA holds four One Goal/Learn to Play beginning hockey events over the course of the season. Each event is six sessions. We need as many coaches on the ice as possible to help with the beginning skaters. You do not need to register for all of the sessions for each event. The sessions are usually Monday nights beginning at 5:30pm.
This free event is for kids ages 4-17 to come out on the ice in a safe environment to try hockey. We need lots of coaches to help make this a success. We usually have between 50-90 players on the ice for any given event.
